We give glory to God for blessing our event with absolutely
beautiful weather, great friends and acquaintances with generous hearts.
Mac was certainly there with us in spirit, as well, as the weekend turned
out far better than our wildest dreams-he was so smiling down on us!
The following is a letter published in the March 30, 2007 issue of
The Greenville Journal:
Thank You! On behalf of The MAC Foundation, Ron, Vickie, Jordan and Mitch Allen would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support of The MAC 1st Annual Pro Am 2007 which took place on Sunday evening, March 25th and Monday, March 26th, 2007. We are extremely happy to announce that proceeds from the party, silent auction and tournament exceeded our wildest expectations. We'd like to extend an extra special thank you to Holly Tree Country Club for hosting the Sunday night gala and Monday's ProAm golf outing. Joe Jackson-Club Manager, Chris Dill-Head Golf Pro and Executive Chef-JasonEzell did an outstanding job organizing and hosting the two day event. Sunday evening included heavy appetizers from five local restaurants including Bonefish Grill, Holly Tree Country Club, The Overlook Grill, Soby's and Travinia Italian Kitchen. Desserts were provided by Two Chefs 2 Go and live entertainment by The Back 9 Band. National Distributing also provided a sampling of excellent wines for the discriminating wine connoisseur. Budweiser of Greenville provided the beer of choice and Pepsi generously donated soft drinks and water for our participants. Lunches on the golfer's carts were compliments of Bubba Annie's with the awards dinner being catered by Henry's Smokehouse. Our sincere appreciation is extended to all contributors of our silent auction and the numerous companies and individuals who have donated their time, energy and product to our charity. Thank you to our hardworking webmaster, Val Williams, who designed the site and updates our progress regularly. Webmaster: Val Williams Recipient of The Mac 1st Annual Pro Am 2007: Our first endeavor is to build a covered picnic shelter, approx 25 x 75 at the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) fields located off of Anderson Ridge Road in Greer. There will be a fire place on one end for players and families alike to gather before or after the games or to simply escape the elements. There will also be a 30” bronzed statue of Mac located at the entry point with two scoreboards on either side. The fireplace, entry and pedestal will be done using stone that will coordinate with the stone used at the gate into the complex. These fields have been home to us for the past 13 years and we are extremely pleased to be able to provide shelter to the players of the future. We can think of no better place to honor Mac than his beloved fields where he spent a good part of his young life, he may not be playing-but he’ll certainly be watching! |
