Remember #19! |
Mac's Story The MAC Foundation is inspired by a young man named Mcgregor, “Mac”, Douglas Allen, who passed away suddenly in the fall of 2006 at the age of 12. Mac’s incredible spirit, enthusiasm for life and concern for others lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, coaches, teachers and simple acquaintances. He was the youngest of three sons, having two brothers- Jordan, 19 and Mitch, 17. Mac grew up on the soccer field watching his brothers play recreational and then classic soccer, spending many hours watching, listening and learning. His contagious smile, endearing dimples and white blonde hair were a familiar site to many. As he grew, so did his passion for the game and for life.Regardless if he was at school or on the soccer field, he always worked hard to do his best and was willing to put forth the extra effort to get there. Sometimes successful, sometimes not-his positive attitude and sense of humor set him apart. His team, the U-13 CESA Boys Premier, called him “The Rock”, staying cool under pressure and encouraging his team to never quit. That word was not in his vocabulary. Not perfect, ever striving and never asking more than he was willing to give. It is with Mac’s strong spirit that this foundation is laid. “The Rock” may not be here in body, but we will build upon the legacy he left us and give back in his name. The number 19 was Mac’s jersey number and since the tragedy, it has become his trademark among his friends and acquaintances. It symbolizes his presence here on earth and keeps his memory close to our hearts.
