The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army has been actively serving in the Greenville, SC community for last 100 years. The Salvation Army provides social services to those with needs including food, clothing, prescription drugs and other financial assistance. The Salvation Army Greenville has an Adult rehabilitation Center and shelters; we also have trained disaster management teams in case the need arises. In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Greenville County offers that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. The Boys & Girls Club is a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. It is truly The Positive Place For Kids. We have more than 1,900 children from Greenville County who participate in the numerous activities we offer. The Club is open to any boy or girl ages 6-18. Our after school tutoring program (Smart Centers) offers homework help for elementary and middle school aged children that are "at risk" of failing their grade in school. The SALSA program (Salvation Army League for Soccer and Academics) through its partnerships aims to provide an opportunity for children who do not have the means to play and learn soccer by partnering with local and large soccer clubs, offering the community a quality state of the art program. The children will also develop mentally through our character, leadership development curriculum prepared by our partners Global Events Group, which is a requirement for this program. Our aim is to impact the community with you! Come Join us. Let's to make a difference! Performance youth outreach We as athletes, coaches, trainers, and mentors hold the keys to successfully developing great future adults in our society. In partnership with The Mac Foundation, Performance QSA, LLC and its affiliates deliver a program of free high-level performance training and youth soccer development camps to the area’s underprivileged children. Performance QSA training staff as well as players and coaches from the Performance FC senior and reserve teams will work as coaches in this program. We will also provide opportunities for children from the program to attend games, meet the players and play mini-games before a regular season game at no charge. For over a year now, Performance QSA has been conducting a structured Physical Education class at the Boys Home of the South in Greenwood, SC. The Boys Home of the South is home to approximately 53 troubled young men. Thanks to The Mac Foundation, in January of 2008, Performance QSA began another structured PE class at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School provides an elementary education in the Franciscan spirit for African American children. Performance QSA feels it is important to reach out to children that might not have the means to become members of an organized youth program. Many of these children come from broken homes & broken families. Our organization feels fortunate to be able to reach out to these communities and provide a service of organized programs that bring diverse families together for a common cause. |
